Squash is a popular raquet sport played in over 148 countries. It is played in an enclosed indoor court by two players with rackets and a small, hollow rubber ball. The front wall includes a tin at the bottom that acts like the net in tennis.

Squash provides an excellent aerobic and anaerobic workout. In one hour of squash, a player burns approximately 700 to 1000 calories, significantly more than most other sports and over 70% more than tennis.

The sport of "squash racquets", known now simply as "squash", is hundreds of years old, and has been an important part of the social and athletic fabric of the Fort Orange Club for at least 80 years. Over those years, many of the region's finest players have honed their skills on our old "hardball" courts. The interest in and passion for this great game remains strong at our Club, within the Capital Region and nationally. Now, with state of the art facilities, we have seen a resurgence of the sport at the Club. All members are encouraged to participate.  All skill levels are welcomed.

Squash Courts are available by appointment for 50 minutes intervals.
Court bookings are free to all Fort Orange Club Members. Call 434-2101 to make your appointment.

Please be certain all footwear is court-appropriate and non-marking. Racquets, eyewear and balls are available for loan at the Club when needed.
